Review on Norwegian Air

For a while, I had read and heard all about Norwegian Air's 787 Dreamliner. Norwegian promotes this new long-haul carrier as a "more jet, less lag" aircraft. About three weeks ago, I put this motto to the test. On May 18th I flew from Orlando, FL to Oslo, Norway on Norwegian Air. The flight cost $200 and flew through the night.

Here is my review:

1. The Seats: My seat was in the middle of the middle section. I've been in that seat before on other full-service carriers and this seat was much more comfortable. For economy, there was quite a bit of leg room and the seats themselves were pretty spacious. Each seat also had a power outlet and USB charger.

2. Entertainment: Each seat had its' own personal touch screen entertainment system. There was a good variety of shows and movies to watch, along with an interactive 3-D map to track your flight's progress. You could purchase and order snacks straight from your touch-screen.

3. Windows & Lighting: Norwegian claims that their windows are 65% larger than in comparable planes. I wasn't seated next to a window, however they definitely looked significantly larger. They also talk about their smart mood lighting, and how you get to be in charge of how much light comes through the windows. I did notice that there were no shades on the windows instead a button for passengers to change the amount of sunshine coming through.

4. Air Pressure: Norwegian also claims to have a lower cabin altitude to match what your body is used to and a steady flow of fresh air.

5. Smooth Ride: The flight was very smooth and much quieter than previous international flights I have been on.

6. Food & Drinks: In-flight meals and drinks are not included in the low-fare cost. However, you can purchase these items during the flight or bring your own food a drinks on board.

7. Baggage: There are restrictions for bags that can be found on norwegian.com. I brought a carry-on backpack and a personal item with a combined weight of less than 22 pounds.

Conclusion

The big question was, did all of these factors really help prevent jet lag? My answer is yes. I was in 8 countries in a matter of 16 days and was able to do it all with no lag. I would highly recommend flying on Norwegian's 787 Dreamliner. As of now, the price and experience are unbeatable.
